Garden Lighting

32 products

Garden lighting does two jobs at once: it makes the path safe at night and, by lifting plants and trees out of the dark, turns the garden into a place after sunset as well. Bollards along a path, spots recessed into the lawn and ground-level uplights at the base of a tree each do a different job. The common criterion for all of them is the IP rating: fixtures in contact with soil should be at least IP65.

Garden Lighting: IP Rating, Layout and Direction of Light

The aim in garden lighting is not to light everything evenly — it is to make the path safe and to pick out a few points. A garden lit everywhere looks like a pale copy of the daytime. Our collection holds 32 products.

Start With the IP Rating

Outdoors, the first question is not appearance but protection.

  • IP44: covered balconies and areas under an eave.
  • IP65: wall and post fittings exposed directly to rain.
  • IP67 and above: in-ground installations and anywhere that may end up under water.

Plan It in Layers

  • Paths and steps: low bollards or recessed ground spots. The light should point downwards and stay out of the eye.
  • Trees and planting: uplighting from below brings out the trunk and the branches.
  • Walls and facades: up-and-down fittings shape the surface.
  • Seating area: soft, low-level light is enough; high output is uncomfortable here.

Light Colour

In a garden, warm tones make planting and timber look more natural. White light at a high Kelvin makes the landscape read cold and artificial, except where it serves security lighting.

Cabling and the Cable-Free Option

In a wired system the run is pulled through protective conduit below ground and the feed point is left somewhere it will not get wet. In gardens where cabling is not possible, solar lighting removes the installation work altogether.

Budget

In this category only 1 of the 32 products currently has a published price (620 TRY); it would not be right to draw a general range from a single product. The other products show a quote option instead of a figure — share the dimensions and quantity through Live Support to receive a price.

Avoiding Light Pollution

Light scattered upwards neither lights your garden nor pleases your neighbour. Choosing a fitting whose body directs the light gives a better result at the same wattage. Where fittings face a path or a seating area, keeping the light source out of direct view preserves the eye's adaptation to darkness and makes the garden read brighter than it is. For the same reason, lighting a few focal points rather than the whole garden is more effective.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it stay outside through winter?

Products with a suitable IP rating can. For in-ground fittings, choose a point that drains and where water does not collect.

Can I run it from a motion sensor?

Yes; you will find suitable models under sensors.

Is there a wall-mounted product?

Among wall lights there are models with an IP rating suitable for outdoor use.
