Summary

A rechargeable table lamp is an LED lamp that runs on a built-in lithium-ion battery without being plugged in. The right model depends on the battery option, charging and operating time, light levels and where it will be used. This guide explains the Economy and Premium battery options, a practical charging routine, planning for restaurants and cafés, models with a waiter call button and what the IP20 rating means.

A rechargeable table lamp is an LED lamp that runs on a built-in rechargeable battery without being plugged into a socket. With no cable, it can stand in the middle of a table, in a corner far from a socket or in a layout that changes often. Four things decide the right model: the battery option, charging and operating time, light levels and the place where the lamp will be used. This guide covers all four in turn.

What going cordless gives you

A corded table lamp lets the socket decide where the table goes. A rechargeable lamp removes that tie: when the table layout changes, the lamp moves with it, and there is no cable left on the floor or on the table to trip over.

This matters most in restaurants, cafés and hotels, where there are many tables and few sockets. At home it is used in places far from a socket, such as the dining table, a reading corner or a bedside table.

Economy and Premium battery options

Most rechargeable table lamps in this category come with two battery options. The Economy option has a 3 W LED and one 18650 lithium-ion battery rated 3.7 V 1500 mAh. The Premium option has a 5 W LED and two 18650 batteries rated 3.7 V (1500–2200 mAh).

The Premium option offers both a stronger light and a higher battery capacity. On a restaurant table that stays lit all evening, or wherever the lamp is used for long hours every day, Premium is the better fit; for decorative, short-term use the Economy option is sufficient.

Charging time and operating time

A full charge takes about 8 hours and is done with a 5 V 2 A adapter. For businesses, the most practical routine is to charge the lamps while closed and use them during service hours.

Operating time depends on the battery capacity and the selected light level: it is noticeably longer on a low level. For models with a measured operating time, the figure is given in the specification table on the product page; some models state up to 30 hours on a full charge.

  • Do not run the battery completely flat every time; a lithium-ion battery lasts longer with partial charging.
  • If the lamp will not be used for a long time, store it with the battery about half charged.
  • Use a compatible 5 V 2 A adapter for charging.

Light levels: ambient light or reading light?

Most models have a 3-step dimmer. The low level creates soft ambient light on the table and preserves the battery for a long time; the high level gives enough light to read a menu or do short tasks at the table.

In a restaurant, a low or medium level is usually enough throughout service. If the lamp will be used regularly for reading or work, the direction and height of the light also matter; our guide to choosing a desk lamp covers this in detail.

Planning for restaurants, cafés and hotels

The number of lamps starts from the number of tables. With daily charging, one lamp per table is enough; if service hours exceed the battery time, add spare lamps to swap in while others charge.

Colour and finish follow the décor of the venue. Most models come in finishes such as gold, bronze, chrome, rose gold, black, white, satin nickel and antique; using a single finish throughout a venue gives a coherent look.

Models with a waiter call button

Some models have a waiter call button on the lamp. Guests can press the button to call a waiter to the table, so the lamp both lights the table and makes service smoother.

We recommend confirming with Live Support before ordering how the call button will work with the call system used in your venue.

An indoor product: what IP20 means

These lamps have an IP20 protection rating. IP20 protects against finger-sized solid objects but offers no protection against water or moisture. The lamp should therefore be used in enclosed, dry indoor spaces and not on terraces or in gardens exposed to rain or heavy humidity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many hours does a rechargeable table lamp last?

It depends on the battery capacity and the selected light level; it lasts noticeably longer on a low level. For models with a measured operating time, the figure is given in the specification table on the product page; some models state up to 30 hours on a full charge.

How long does charging take?

A full charge takes about 8 hours with a 5 V 2 A adapter. For businesses, charging the lamps while closed is the most practical routine.

Should I choose Economy or Premium?

Choose the Premium option (5 W LED, two batteries) if the lamp will stay on for long hours every day or you want a stronger light. For decorative, short-term use the Economy option (3 W LED, one battery) is sufficient.

Can a rechargeable table lamp be used outdoors?

With an IP20 rating it is not protected against water or moisture and should be used in enclosed, dry indoor spaces. It should not be used on terraces or in gardens exposed to rain or heavy humidity.

How does the waiter call feature work?

Waiter call models have a call button on the lamp; guests press it to call a waiter. We recommend confirming with Live Support before ordering that the button works with the call system in your venue.
