Description

In LED chandeliers the light comes from a module fitted into the body rather than from a lamp. When that module fails, the whole chandelier does not need replacing — only the module is renewed.

What constant current means

These modules are fed with constant current: the driver holds the current steady rather than the voltage. It is the preferred method for LED lifetime and colour stability, which is why compatibility with the existing driver matters when replacing a module.

Before you replace it

Isolate the chandelier, then note the size and connection type of the existing module. The colour temperature of the new module should match the old one; a different temperature stands out inside the same fixture.

Usage & Warnings

Power supply

  • Modules run on 12V and require a 12V LED driver. They must not be plugged into the mains directly.
  • Choose a driver rated at least 20% above the total module wattage.
  • Rather than feeding a long chain from a single driver, split the load across several drivers.

Wiring

  • Cut the chain on the cable between modules; never cut through a module itself.
  • Observe polarity — a reversed connection permanently damages the module.
  • Insulate cut ends with a connector or by soldering.

Where to use

  • For outdoor signage use the resin-filled (silicone-coated) version and seal the sign box against water.
  • Mount the driver outside the box, in a sheltered and ventilated position.

Frequently Asked Questions

My chandelier will not light — is it the module or the driver?

Usually the driver. An LED module rarely fails outright; you normally see flicker first, then failure, and that points to the driver. Have the driver checked before replacing the module, or the new module will not work either.

Which colour temperature should I buy?

The same as the old one. Different colour temperatures inside one fixture are noticeable. If you are unsure, read the value (3000K / 4000K) printed on the existing module.

Can I replace it myself?

Once the circuit is isolated at the fuse box, replacing the module is straightforward on most chandeliers. However, the driver connection and its polarity matter; a reversed connection destroys the module. If in doubt, have an electrician do it.

Will it fit any chandelier?

No. The physical size, connection type and driver compatibility vary by fixture. Confirm the size and connection of your existing module before ordering.

How long does a module last?

The LED board typically lasts beyond 30,000 hours. In practice the driver decides, which is why the condition of the driver should be assessed at the same time.
