Linear LED Fixture — 36W and 45W Line Lighting

A linear fixture spreads light along a line rather than from a single point. That softens shadows and, in long spaces, provides sufficient lighting on its own.

Where it is used

Corridors, open-plan offices, worktops and above long tables. It can be suspended or surface-mounted, and units link end to end to form continuous lines.

Over a desk, keeping the fixture parallel to the desk and centred on it minimises shadow. Setting it across the desk leaves one side dark.

Suspended or surface-mounted

Under a high ceiling, suspending the fixture brings the light closer to the working plane and gains efficiency. Below 2.4 m a suspended fixture comes down to head height; there, surface mounting is the better answer. For a suspension, 70 to 90 cm above the desktop is a common height.

Building a continuous line

Fixtures join end to end to form one unbroken line. In a corridor of standard width, 120 cm fixtures spaced 2.5 to 3 metres apart also give a balanced line; in a spaced layout, the wider the gap the more visible the dark bands between fixtures become.

The LED chip

The manufacturer declares that this fixture uses OSRAM LEDs. In a luminaire the chip brand matters less for light quality than for lifetime and colour stability: a chip from a known maker drifts less in colour over the years and loses output more slowly. The figure stated is the manufacturer's declaration; it does not rest on an independent test report.

Colour temperature in an office

The usual choice in an office is 4000K neutral white: soft enough not to tire over a full day, crisp enough to hold attention. 6500K is sharper, and some people find it tiring over long stretches of work.
