Description
An LED panel spot is a slim-housing fixture recessed into a suspended ceiling. Because it sits flush with the ceiling face it takes up no visual space in the room — it spreads the lighting load across several points and gives an even distribution.
Choosing the power
The general rule for a home with a 2.4–2.8 m ceiling is 150–200 lumens per square metre. A 12W spot gives roughly 1200 lumens; three or four of them make a balanced layout for a 20 m² living room. Splitting the load across several points rather than one strong fixture reduces shadows.
Cut-out diameter
Each power step has its own cut-out diameter and you need it before you start — if the hole is cut too large the fixture will not seat. Compare the stated diameter with your hole saw before cutting.

Usage & Warnings
Before installation
- Switch off the circuit at the fuse box before wiring.
- Check the cut-out diameter against the figure given for your chosen wattage. If the hole is cut too large the fixture will not hold.
- Allow at least 5–8 cm of clearance above the ceiling for the fixture and its driver.
- This product is for recessed installation and cannot be mounted directly onto concrete.
Driver placement
- Place the driver where it can ventilate and be reached later; never bury it in insulation material.
- The driver is the part most often replaced in a lighting run — plan access for it.
Use
- Wipe with a dry cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners.
- For indoor use. Areas exposed to direct water, such as above a shower or bath, require a fixture with the appropriate ingress protection rating.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many spots do I need?
Multiply your floor area by 150–200 lumens and divide by the output of the spot you choose. Example: 20 m² × 175 lumens = 3500 lumens; that is three 12W spots at 1200 lumens each. Keeping 1.5–2 metres between spots reduces shadows.
Where do I find the cut-out diameter?
It is stated for each power step in the product options. Always confirm it before cutting: too large and the fixture will not hold, too small and the housing will not enter. Correcting a hole afterwards is difficult in plasterboard.
I have no suspended ceiling — can I use these?
No, this product is for recessed installation and needs 5–8 cm of clearance behind the ceiling. If you want to mount onto bare concrete, look at the surface-mounted panel range, which is designed for exactly that.
Is the driver included?
Panel spots come with an external driver that sits above the ceiling. Make sure it stays somewhere you can reach — in a lighting run the part that usually needs replacing is the driver, not the LEDs.
Can the beam be angled?
This range is fixed and throws light straight down. If you want to aim light at a picture, a shelf or a wall, choose the Adjustable LED Panel Spot instead.
