Clip-in Grid Systems

6 products

Clip-in is the system where the tile is fixed by clipping onto the profile. Unlike T24 the carrier is not visible from below, so the ceiling reads as a continuous surface. Once seated, the tile cannot fall out, which is why it is chosen for high ceilings, corridors and public areas. The system is built from the carrier profile, the perimeter C profile and a few small connectors: the hanger clip ties the profile to the hanger wire, the splice clip joins two profiles end to end, and the retaining block holds the tile in place. To remove a tile, a thin lifting tool is worked into the tile edge.

Clip-in Grid Systems: A Suspended Ceiling With Concealed Carriers

In a Clip-in system the carrying profiles are not visible from below: the panels clip into the profile and lock, and the ceiling becomes an uninterrupted, jointless surface. It is preferred in offices, shops, hospitals and hotels, where a clean ceiling line is expected. This section holds 6 products and every one of them has a published price.

How Does It Work?

The edges of the panel are turned inwards and seat on the spring in the carrying profile. Pressed into place, the panel clips home; to take it out, a special suction cup or removal tool is used. That also prevents the ceiling from opening accidentally — an advantage for safety in high-ceilinged, busy spaces.

Compared With T24

  • Appearance: Clip-in is flat and uninterrupted; T24 & Channel Grid Systems read as a grid.
  • Access: in T24 the panel lifts by hand; in Clip-in a tool is needed.
  • Panel compatibility: Clip-in requires its own panel; a standard lay-in tile will not fit.

Planning Notes

In a Clip-in system the positions of fittings and vents have to be planned together with the panel layout: cutting a panel can damage the clip edge. That makes it all the more important to settle the lighting layout before the framework. Marking on the drawing which panel a driver or piece of equipment sits under makes any later intervention easier.

Budget

All 6 products are priced: from 0.05 EUR to 1.14 EUR, with a median of 0.16 EUR. The lower end of the range is clips and connectors, the upper end profile lengths.

Where Is It Preferred?

Clip-in is chosen where the ceiling is meant to be visually calm: a hotel lobby, a shop, a clinic, a showroom. The absence of grid lines makes the space look taller and cleaner. In technical areas that need frequent access above the ceiling the advantage reverses — every entry calls for a tool. The question to ask when deciding is this: how many times a year will someone go above this ceiling? If the answer is "rarely", Clip-in is right; if it is "often", an exposed-grid system is the better choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which panel does it work with?

It needs panels made for Clip-in, with turned edges. Check system compatibility in the product description of the items under Suspended Ceiling Tile.

Is it hard to remove?

With the tool it is easy; forcing it without one permanently deforms the panel edge.

Are the hanging parts included?

Hanger rods and clips are separate products: Ceiling Mounting Accessories.
