Description
The Cage Wall Sconce is named for its spindle-shaped body, tapering to a point at the top and bottom. Vertical metal rods meet at each end, and a broad polished band wraps the middle — a band that both splits the light in two and gives the piece a piece-of-jewellery quality.
A cage does not trap light, it filters it. Because the bulbs sit inside, nothing glares directly into the eye; the light slips between the rods and leaves fine lines across the wall and ceiling. The effect is easy on the eyes and softens a room in the evening. The body has enough volume to fill a wall on its own, which is why it also works well single, above a console or in a narrow hallway.
The generous form carries wide walls. Gold and Rose suit classic and art deco schemes; Black belongs in industrial and modern interiors; Silver fits white-and-grey palettes; Antique completes rooms with timber and brass detailing.

The sconce arrives pre-assembled and ready to light. LED bulbs, a 9V battery, two wall plugs with screws and a spring terminal are all in the box — there is nothing else to buy. The on/off switch sits on the body, so you can control the light without a wall switch or a socket nearby.
As easy to fit as hanging a picture
Used with the battery, the wall needs no electrical work at all: two plugs, two screws, done. If you later want it hardwired, unplug the battery from its connector and wire the fitting to your mains using the spring terminal supplied. That flexibility is what makes this a real option for renters and for walls that are already finished.

Usage & Warnings
Use and care
- The fitting is designed for indoor use. Do not install it in a shower area, on an exterior wall, in a garden or anywhere exposed directly to moisture.
- Wipe the metal body with a dry, soft cloth. Abrasive sponges, bleach, solvents and alcohol-based cleaners dull the finish permanently.
- On models with crystal or acrylic parts a damp cloth is enough; dry immediately afterwards. Avoid hard water, which leaves limescale marks.
- Always switch the fitting off before cleaning or changing a bulb; on mains power, also switch off at the consumer unit.
Power and battery
- When wiring to the mains, disconnect the battery from its connector first.
- Use LED bulbs matching the socket type and never exceed the stated wattage.
- A weak battery does not cut out suddenly — the light dims gradually. Replace it with a new 9V cell of the same size.
- We recommend having the mains connection made by a qualified electrician. Faults caused by incorrect wiring are not covered by the warranty.
Installation
- The wall plugs supplied are for brick and concrete. Use plasterboard fixings on stud walls.
- Mounting it above eye level (roughly 160–180 cm from the floor) gives the up-and-down light its best effect on the wall.
- Before drilling, make sure there is no electrical cable or water pipe behind the wall.

Battery or mains?
Either. The sconce arrives with a 9V battery fitted and working, so if there is no wiring in the wall you simply screw it up. To run it from the mains, unplug the battery from its connector and wire the fitting with the spring terminal supplied.
Are the bulbs visible?
No. The LED bulbs sit inside the cage and the light escapes between the rods. There is no direct glare, and the wall picks up a soft pattern of fine lines instead.
Does it work on its own or should I buy a pair?
The body has enough volume to look complete on its own; single fittings are common in narrow hallways and above consoles. For a wide living-room wall or a symmetrical bedside arrangement, buy two.
Does dust collect between the rods?
Very little — the structure is open. A dry, soft cloth or a gentle blast of air is enough. Avoid abrasive cleaners and anything alcohol-based; they dull the finish permanently.
What wattage is it, and how much light does it give?
9 W in total, from two LED bulbs. It is designed to give decorative, atmospheric light on a wall rather than to replace a ceiling fitting. Think of it as a second layer alongside your main light.
