Surface-Mounted Gökyüzü Panel

Description

60x60 Surface-Mounted LED Gökyüzü Panel is a sky lighting solution designed for spaces that have no suspended ceiling. Using a surface-mounting box, the panel is fixed directly to your existing ceiling — concrete, plastered or plasterboard. The ceiling is not cut open and you do not need to have a suspended ceiling built; only the fixing holes and your existing lighting point are used.

No suspended ceiling? Not a problem. In most homes the ceiling is a bare reinforced-concrete slab, and recessed panels cannot be fitted into ceilings of that kind. The surface-mounted model fills exactly this gap: you get the same sky effect without breaking into your ceiling, without rubble, and without handing your home over to a contractor. Fitting it is not a renovation — it is mounting a luminaire, much like hanging a ceiling light.

How far does it drop below the ceiling? Together with its mounting box, the panel sits approximately 5 cm below the ceiling. For comparison: a suspended ceiling installation takes 10–25 cm off your ceiling height. In flats with low ceilings that difference is decisive — with a surface-mounted panel you do not lose your sense of space.

It moves with you. A suspended ceiling is permanent and cannot be taken down; a surface-mounted panel, by contrast, can be removed and taken to another room or to your new home. All that remains is a few fixing holes. That makes it suitable for tenants, for people using rented shops and offices, and for anyone who may want to change its position later.

This is the most popular size; with a single panel it provides strong illumination and a wide sky surface on living-room, consulting-room and office ceilings.

Will the cables be visible? No. The connection is made with a terminal block at the existing lighting outlet in your ceiling; the LED driver and any surplus cable stay inside the mounting box. No cabling is left exposed.

The surface of the panel carries a high-resolution sky image produced with UV printing technology. The range runs from a cloudy blue sky to a starry night, and from flower and tree motifs to artwork of your own. Because the printed layer can be replaced, you can give your space a new feel later by changing only the graphic, without dismantling the whole system.

Fitted with Samsung LEDs, the panel provides even, shadow-free light distribution and creates a bright atmosphere that is easy on the eyes. Colour temperature options: 6500K cool white is the tone closest to the sky on a clear day and shows the blue of the sky graphic at its most vivid; it is preferred in offices, shops and clinics, where clarity is wanted. 4000K neutral white is softer; it gives a more restful atmosphere in places where people spend longer periods, such as living rooms, bedrooms, hotel lobbies and restaurants.

Where is it used? Rooms with no windows or little daylight, basement offices, corridors and hallways, children's rooms, consulting rooms and clinic waiting areas, hairdressers, cafés and small shops — above all, any space where having a suspended ceiling built is not possible or not sensible.

We also offer the same Gökyüzü Panel with recessed (T24) and clip-in (locking frame) mounting options for spaces that do have a suspended ceiling.

Usage & Warnings

Electrical Safety

  • Before installation, maintenance or any replacement of parts, switch off the circuit at the fuse box and confirm with a voltage tester that the line is dead.
  • Have the installation and the electrical connections carried out by a qualified electrician. This is required both for your safety and for your warranty to remain valid.
  • Make the connection to the existing lighting outlet in the ceiling with a terminal block; do not join the cables by twisting or taping them.
  • Make sure your installation has an earth connection.
  • The LED driver goes inside the mounting box. Do not leave the driver pressed against the back of the panel; for heat dissipation it must sit in a position inside the box where air can circulate.

Installation (Surface-Mounted)

  • Check that your mains supply is within the 220–240 V / 50 Hz range.
  • Hold the mounting box against the ceiling, level it with a spirit level and mark the hole positions. If the box is not levelled, the panel will hang crooked — take particular care in older buildings where the ceiling is not flat.
  • Concrete, brick and plastered ceilings: drill with a bit of the correct diameter and use expansion or steel anchors.
  • Plasterboard ceilings: ordinary plastic plugs are not sufficient. Use toggle (cavity) fixings; where possible, fix the screw into the supporting profile behind the plasterboard or into the concrete above.
  • Make sure the existing cable outlet (junction box) in the ceiling falls inside the mounting box; bring the cable in through the cable entry hole in the box.
  • Make the electrical connection before the panel is seated into the box; once the panel is fitted there is no gap left for your hand.
  • Before installation, confirm that the ceiling can carry the weight of the panel.
  • The product is intended for dry indoor use (IP20). It must not be used in bathrooms, showers, saunas, open terraces or outdoors.

Use

  • Dimmer compatibility: not every LED panel works with a dimmer. Unless your product is specified as “dimmable”, do not connect it to a dimmer switch. Incompatible use causes flicker, light jumps and driver failure; such faults are not covered by the warranty.
  • Do not switch the lighting on and off frequently at short intervals; unnecessary switching cycles shorten the life of the driver.
  • Prevent heat build-up around the panel and the mounting box; do not cover the box with insulation material.
  • Do not look directly at the panel for long periods while it is switched on.
  • If you notice flicker, colour shift or unusual heating, cut the power and contact us.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Before cleaning, switch off the power and wait for the panel to cool down (approximately 30 minutes).
  • Wipe the surface with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not use paper towels or abrasive cloths.
  • Do not use solvents, abrasives, or cleaners containing alcohol, ammonia or acetone; they damage the surface coating.
  • Apply the cleaner to the cloth, not directly to the panel; do not allow liquid to get inside the panel.

Removal and Relocation

  • The panel can be taken down and moved to another space. Before removing it, always switch off the power, disconnect the cable at the terminal block and take the box off the ceiling.
  • The remaining anchor holes can easily be filled with finishing plaster.

Disposal

  • At the end of its service life the product must not be discarded with household waste. Hand it in at your municipal collection point or to an authorised recycling organisation, in line with the WEEE Directive (2012/19/EU) or the equivalent regulations in your country.

Situations Not Covered by the Warranty

  • Installation, repair or unauthorised intervention carried out by anyone other than an authorised service.
  • Use outside the manual, connection to an incompatible dimmer, and faults caused by overvoltage or by the electrical supply.
  • Any kind of contact with liquid, and use in damp/wet or excessively hot environments.
  • Impact, dropping, breakage and scratches, and damage caused by natural disasters.

Frequently Asked Questions

I don't have a suspended ceiling - can I still have this panel fitted?

Yes, and that is exactly what this product was designed for. The surface-mounted model requires no suspended ceiling; it fixes directly to bare concrete, plastered or plasterboard ceilings by means of its mounting box. Nothing is cut into the ceiling and no debris is created.

How far does the panel project below the ceiling?

Together with its mounting box, it sits approximately 5 cm below the ceiling. By comparison, a suspended ceiling installation takes 10-25 cm off your ceiling height; with a surface-mounted panel you lose none of it.

Should I choose the surface-mounted or the recessed model?

If your space already has a suspended ceiling, the recessed (T24 lay-in) model sits perfectly flush with the ceiling for a more seamless appearance. If you have no suspended ceiling, or would rather not have one installed, the surface-mounted model is the right choice. The panel, the LED output and the sky print are identical in both; only the mounting method differs.

Can I use it in a rented property, and can it be removed when I move?

Yes. This is not a building alteration but a light fitting installation, comparable to hanging a chandelier. When you move, the panel can be taken down and refitted in your new space, leaving nothing behind but a few anchor holes that are easily filled. In a rented property, we recommend informing the owner before installation.

Will any wiring be visible?

No. The connection is made with a terminal block to the existing lighting outlet (ceiling junction box) in your ceiling. The LED driver and any surplus cable are concealed inside the mounting box, so no wiring is left exposed.

Which ceilings can it be mounted on, and can I fit it myself?

Concrete, brick, plastered and timber ceilings take standard wall plugs, while plasterboard ceilings require toggle (cavity) anchors - ordinary plastic plugs are not adequate in plasterboard. The mounting box is aligned with a spirit level and the 220V connection is then made. We recommend that the electrical connection be carried out by a qualified electrician.

How many watts is the 60x60 surface-mounted sky panel, and how much electricity does it use?

The panel is rated at 40 W and delivers approximately 4,000 lumens, which is enough to light a medium-sized room on its own.

Is a 60x60 panel enough for a living room?

The 60x60 is the most frequently chosen size and provides strong illumination in a medium-sized living room with a single panel. In very large living rooms, adding a second panel or opting for the 60x120 size gives a more balanced result.
