How to choose a glass chandelier

The type of glass largely decides how light spreads in the room. Clear glass lets light through directly for a bright, defined effect, while opal glass diffuses it into a soft, glare-free glow. In this collection, 158 models combine a metal frame with glass and 13 use opal glass; tinted glass in amber, grey, platinum or yellow adds a warm tone to the light.

When choosing a size, consider the width together with the table or room and the height together with your ceiling. The range runs from slim 4 cm pendants to wide 145 cm models, and most products list an overall height of 120 cm. Above a dining table, a chandelier narrower than the short side of the table usually looks balanced; in a living room, a wider model centred over the seating area works well.

Integrated LED or bulb socket?

139 of the 177 models use an integrated LED source: there is no bulb to replace, and the light colour and power are fixed in the product table. Socket models take a bulb that fits their G9 (19 products), E27, E14, G4 or GU10 socket, so you can change the light colour by choosing a different bulb.

Most models with a listed light colour are 3000K warm white (141 products), a tone that creates a cosy atmosphere in living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms. Six models offer 4000K neutral white for spaces that need a more neutral light. Luminous flux in the product tables ranges from 100 lm to 14,000 lm: choose a higher value if the chandelier will light a large room on its own, and a lower one for a decorative accent.

Installation and care

Before installation, make sure the ceiling fixing point can carry the weight of the chandelier, switch off the circuit breaker and, ideally, have the wiring done by an electrician. To clean the glass, switch off the power and wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth; abrasive cleaners can dull the surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which rooms suit a glass chandelier?

Living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and entrance halls. Slim single-light models suit a kitchen counter or bedside, while wider multi-arm models suit living and dining areas.

What is the difference between opal and clear glass?

Opal glass diffuses light and reduces glare; clear glass lets light through directly for a brighter, more defined effect.

Can the bulb be replaced in an integrated LED model?

No. In integrated LED models the light source is built into the body; in socket models the bulb can be replaced with one that fits the socket type.

What light colour do glass chandeliers have?

Most models with a listed light colour are 3000K warm white and some are 4000K. Each product's light colour is shown in its own specification table.

How do I clean a glass chandelier?

Switch off the power, let the glass cool, then wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products.
